Not long after announcing that the soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo had agreed to extend his contract with Real Madrid for five more years, Georgina Rodriguez told the Spanish magazine Inicial that she is expecting twins. The news was first reported by The Mirror, and is likely to surprise only the most dedicated soccer fan.
“Ronaldo and I are so happy,” said Rodriguez. “They are two beautiful, sweet and perfect children.” Ronaldo and Rodriguez have been dating since the beginning of the year, and the paper has reported that Ronaldo told friends recently that he wanted at least three children with Rodriguez. There is, no doubt, a football fan element at play. The Portuguese star is set to start training with his new team next year and already has a young son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., with his former partner Irina Shayk. While Ronaldo has a brief history of childless marriage, it’s now clear that his long-term partner is carrying the ball. If the new parents find it hard to conceive, however, Rodriguez is said to be asking him for baby coaching, although the couple has yet to wed.
